About TikiFish Adventures — Miami's Charter Fishing Experience Built on Passion, Not Profit

There are a lot of ways to spend a day on the water in Miami. You can board a large party boat with twenty strangers and wait your turn at the rail. You can rent a kayak and paddle around the shoreline. You can book a generic offshore trip and spend most of it seasick in open water. Or you can call Captain Jose Rodriguez — and actually go fishing.

TikiFish Adventures exists because Jose believes that a great day on the water should not require a large budget, a circle of fishing friends who own boats, or years of experience knowing where to go and what to bring. It should be available to anyone — the family visiting Miami who wants to do something real together, the solo traveler who wants to experience the city from the water, the group of friends who have talked about a fishing trip for years and finally decided to make it happen. TikiFish Adventures was built for all of them.

The Man Behind the Charter — Captain Jose Rodriguez

Jose Rodriguez did not stumble into fishing. He grew up around Miami's water — drawn to it the way some people are drawn to mountains or open fields — with the kind of instinct for reading tides, structure, and fish behavior that does not come from a textbook. It comes from time on the water. Thousands of hours of it. Early mornings before anyone else was on the bay. Late nights under dock lights watching snook work the current. Afternoons on the canal banks learning what peacock bass respond to and when.

What Jose built with TikiFish Adventures is an extension of that personal relationship with Miami's fishing ecosystem. He is not running a high-volume operation designed to push as many charters as possible through the calendar. He is running a small, intentional business where every guest gets the version of Miami fishing that Jose himself would want to experience — focused, fully equipped, unhurried, and genuinely guided by someone who cares whether you catch fish.

That last part matters more than it sounds. Jose is the captain who is still thinking about the tide and adjusting the position of the boat and switching up the bait presentation because he wants your group to catch fish — not because it affects his rating, but because he takes it personally when a trip underperforms.

What TikiFish Adventures Is — And What It Isn't

TikiFish Adventures is a small, owner-operated fishing charter business based in Miami, Florida. Captain Jose runs every trip personally aboard a 2016 Key West Bay Reef 210 — a 21-foot center console powered by a 150 horsepower Yamaha engine that is purpose-built for Miami's shallow inshore environment. Every charter is capped at four guests.

TikiFish Adventures is not a party boat. It is not a group tour with a dozen strangers. It is not an offshore trip that spends two hours running to reach the fishing grounds. It is a personal, hands-on guided experience on the waters that Jose knows intimately — Miami's inshore saltwater flats and bays, the lit docks and tidal channels that produce after dark, the canal system that holds some of the most exciting freshwater fishing in the continental United States, and the shallow grass flats where Florida spiny lobster move after sunset during lobster season.

Every piece of equipment your group needs is already on the boat. Rods, reels, tackle, live bait, ice, water, and fishing licenses for up to four guests — all included, on every charter, every time. You do not need to own fishing gear. You do not need to hold a Florida fishing license. You do not need to know anything about fishing before you arrive. Jose handles all of that so your group can be fully present for the experience.

The TikiFish Adventures Philosophy — Miami's Best of Both Worlds

Miami is one of the only cities in the world where you can target snook and tarpon in saltwater inshore channels at night and be fishing for butterfly peacock bass in the freshwater canal system the next morning. Where you can spend a sunset on Biscayne Bay casting live bait on the flats and spend the following evening wading in warm shallow water hunting Florida spiny lobster by torchlight. Where the fishing itself changes so completely from one trip to the next that two charters with the same captain feel like two entirely different destinations.

Jose calls it Miami's best of both worlds. It is the idea that Miami's fishing ecosystem — saltwater and freshwater, day and night, rod and bully net — is more complete, more diverse, and more extraordinary than most people ever realize. TikiFish Adventures exists to show that to people. One group of four at a time.

Families with Kids

TikiFish Adventures is fully kid-friendly with no age restrictions on any charter type. Jose is patient, encouraging, and experienced with younger anglers who may be picking up a rod for the first time. The inshore saltwater and freshwater charters offer the kind of active, frequent fish contact that keeps children engaged throughout a full trip.

First-Time Anglers

You do not need to know how to fish to book a TikiFish Adventures charter. Jose coaches every guest through technique, casting, bait presentation, and fish handling from the beginning of the trip. The goal is for every person on board to feel capable and confident on the water.

Experienced Anglers Looking for Something Different

Miami's inshore saltwater fishery — particularly the nighttime snook and tarpon bite — is a legitimate bucket-list experience for serious anglers. The butterfly peacock bass in Miami's canal system is a species that most freshwater anglers in the United States have never encountered.

Visitors to Miami Who Want a Real Local Experience

There is a version of Miami that tourists see — the beaches, the nightlife, the restaurants — and there is a version of Miami that locals know. TikiFish Adventures is the latter. Fishing Miami's inshore waters and canal system with a guide who has spent years on those specific bodies of water is one of the most authentic local experiences available in the city.

A Note from Captain Jose

Fishing is personal to me. It always has been. What I want every guest to feel when they step off the boat at the end of a TikiFish Adventures charter is that they just had a real experience — not a packaged tour, not a generic boat ride, but a genuine few hours on Miami's water with someone who knows it well and wanted to share it with them.

I built TikiFish Adventures around that feeling. Four guests at a time. Everything included. My full attention on your group for the entire trip. That is the business, and that is the promise. Miami's water is extraordinary. Come see it.
